Gear plays a crucial part in success in Iron Throne. In our earlier article The Forge, we addressed the basics of gear and crafting. But there’s still a lot of ground to cover! Here, we’ll be talking about:
- Combat Gear;
- What to use it for;

- A breakdown of stats provided per piece of equipment;
- Set Bonuses.
First, we will cover some basic information to be aware of when working on your Gear.
Upgrading and Enhancing
Upgrading your Gear can take it from an Uncommon Green Piece all the way to Immortal. This is great because if you are able to get some stats and work towards acquiring the materials and hammers needed to upgrade, you don’t have to start over.
Enhancing requires another piece of Immortal Equipment and Silver. Enhancing Gear boosts its stats even higher.
Gear Mix-and-Match and Set Bonuses
Some players will choose to mix and match their Gear Sets in order to optimize their stats. However, be aware when doing this that every set has a Base Set Bonus and Immortal Set Bonus. These Bonuses are stackable and help to increase your stats as well. Therefore, if you choose to mix and match, make sure that the stat increase from doing so amounts to more then what you would get from your Set Bonuses.

Defensive Gear
Here, we’ll discuss different sets of gear to use for Defense. This is the Gear that you will put on your Guard Captain.
Guardian Set
“Equipment optimized for the Guard Captain’s abilities. Allows you to efficiently defend against any type of attack.”
This is the number one pick for Defense Gear. This gear will also be the most difficult to obtain. If you are willing to spend, it is possible to obtain it more quickly then a player who may not have the resources to do so. Overall, this gear set will give you the best defensive stats, so think carefully on it.

Other Alternatives for Defensive Gear
While the best bet for Defensive Gear is Guardian, this is not always an immediately viable option for players. There are other gear sets that you can equip to your Hero to give you boosts while you work towards Guardian Gear.

This is your Infantry set. When using this set, be sure to equip it to a Hero with Infantry Traits and send Infantry Troops on your attack, as this set strengthens that Troop type.

Berserker Gear
“An Equipment set specialized for the Infantry, the materials of which can be obtained through various Points Events. “
Berserker Gear is probably the most commonly used Combat Set when you do not have Guardian or any of the Attack Sets. It has several features that make it useful for Defense and Attack and has good stats, especially when Enhanced. This gear is good to use while working towards the sets above. As it is an Infantry set like Conqueror, equip it to a Hero with Infantry Traits and use it with Infantry Troops.

Gladiator Gear
“Equipment specialized for hunting, perfect for newly-appointed Lords.”
This is a very basic set of Gear. This Gear is intended for new players and is the easiest to get. You do not need to craft it. You can get this gear not only as Rewards, but as a drop from Monsters Level 1-10. You can upgrade this Gear using only Upgrade Hammers and Silver.
True World’s Mighty Set
“Equipment Set that can be obtained as Raid Ranking Rewards, specialized to Infantry, Archer, and Cavalry Attack.”
This Gear Set is unique in that it’s the only Attack Set that strengthens more then one Troop Type at a time. While the stats are lower, it is a Relic and worth testing. This Gear set is difficult to get, due to the fact that there is only one way to get it. To obtain this Gear, you must rank well in Raids. This Gear is also unable to be Enhanced.
Dark Lord Set
“An Equipment Set that strengthens all types of Troops with Ancient Dark Power.”
The Dark Lord Set is a new set available to players with the latest update. This Gear set should be equipped on a Hero who is set for Attack. It also may have possible uses for defense based on the stats that are provided, but more testing is needed to say for certain. This Gear set is more difficult to obtain and requires that you already have other advanced Gear sets.
