The Iron Throne Tournament has begun! Who will rise victorious? We have all been waiting in anticipation for the Tournament to begin, and now that it is here it is the talk of rooms. Everyone is placing their bets on who will come out on top, with guesses ranging from K8 to K1 alliances. Right now, it is anyone’s game.
Here is what we do know right now. Aspiring winners of this tournament will need to show teamwork and excellence. The team that wins will not only need power but strategy, teamwork, and dedication.
The Tournament
How it Works
The Tournament runs like a typical Alliance Deathmatch; however, it features some different rewards, which we will cover below.
Proceedings
- This 2-week event consists of 7 rounds, each with group stages and a final round.
- Each group consists of 3 matches. The first Alliance with 2 wins advances to the next round.
- If an Alliance wins the first 2 of 3 matches, they will proceed to the next round without a 3rd match.
- If an Alliance fails to participate in a match, they will lose by default, allowing the opposing Alliance to win the match automatically.
Battle Rules
- Each battle has 3 sets of Alliances. Those that win 2 Sets will go on the next round.
- Alliances who do not enter the Tournament lose, and their opponent wins by default.
- If both Alliances do not enter for the Tournament, both alliances will record a win.
- If neither Alliance enters the first and second set, neither of them will go on to the next Round.
Rewards
- Participating Alliances will receive rewards based on their team’s wins/losses and advancement to the next rounds. The round advancement rewards will be sent as Gold to the Alliance Vault.
- The Alliance will receive extra rewards, such as Revival Herbs or Tournament Chests, based on the team’s collective Wins/Losses.
- While Alliance Gold will be sent to the Alliance Vault, the Win/Loss rewards will be sent to each individual Lord, depending on the results.
Entering the Tournament
Not every Alliance will be able to participate in the Tournament. However, that does not mean you cannot be a part of the fun. With the various players who will be streaming and Youtubing, we will be able to see the best of the best in action.
Entering the tournament battlefield is much like entering normal Deathmatch. At the start of the round, your Alliance members will have 10 minutes to enlist, buff, and prepare for the battle. Just like the typical Deathmatch, it is limited to 20 spots, so if you want to participate you need to be sure to be on and ready to enlist.
The rules remain the same in that you win either by having the most points or forcing all of your opponents to surrender. You are given the same items to start with as in regular Team Deathmatch and receive the same buffs at various point levels. To review further what these are, be sure to check out our articles on Team Deathmatch and Alliance Deathmatch.
Tournament Strategy
In the Alliance or Team Deathmatch, strategy and teamwork are of the utmost importance. If you read some of our above articles, you have a great starting point for strategy. However, with this Tournament, you want to be able to take your strategy to the next level. Some of this will include some organization within your Alliance.
- Know who is planning to play – Check with your Alliance to see who is planning to enlist in the Round. In Team Deathmatch or Alliance Deathmatch, buffs and research and gear are very important. If you have more then 20 players who plan to enlist, then you will need to do some organizing. Players who are more advanced with Gear and Research should be given first priority, as this is your best chance to be successful in the tournament.
- Set up rules and roles for the members in advance. There are so many things that can be done during Deathmatch. From killing monsters, to farming tiles, to attacking, everyone should have a role and know what it is and operate within it to achieve optimal results.
- Be Smart – Remember that you should not just go and solo people to see if you can burn them. You can clearly see players’ power, which shows how advanced they are. A player who has a power of 190 million should not be hitting a player who is in the billions. This will weaken your team and if the opponent is not burning, then you will be giving them more points than you are gaining. You can quickly lose the whole thing for your team.
- Be Fluid – We know we said to establish rules and roles; however, players need to be able to be flexible and change their role if called upon. This does not mean that a weaker player should start soloing huge players, but that if called upon, they can go from farming to filling a rally.
- Establish a line of authority – Does your team have a great strategist? Utilize them. There really is such a thing as too many leaders. Multiple people shouting orders can become quickly confusing and overwhelming. Typically, your R5 and R4 members are the ones who take the role of authority. However, whoever you choose to lead the team, make sure that your team is willing to follow that person’s directions and listen.
- Post Coordinates – We all have seen the jackrabbit players during these events. They port from place to place to get away and hide and survive longer. Keep members of your team scanning the map and posting coordinates as they find various players so that the attack players can easily port to their next target. However, players that are playing the scout — do not lose track of where you are, or you risk your opponents sneaking up on you.
- Scout out the competition – One of the perks of the tournament is that we know who we will be going up against. Find out what you can about your opponent before entering the battle so that you can be as prepared as possible.
